The Decision

For some time I have been thinking about giving up alcohol. The thought of going out for a 'couple' of drinks then  getting back home at stupid o'clock stinking and slurring seems too familiar. The ominous words of 'I won't be out too late' have been said more times than I can remember and change is now needed. After another 'couple' of drinks last night I've made a decision.

Now for anyone who knows me, I can't just have one beer. One beer becomes two, then three and so on. If you know me you probably have very little belief that I can give it up.

I'm going to give up alcohol for a year. That's right, 12 months. I'll give you a moment to stop laughing before I continue...

I don't believe I can do this either so to give me the determination to carry it through I am going to raise money for charity. I will be supporting Claire House Children's Hospice, a charity to enhance the quality of life for children with life-limiting conditions. The work they do changes the lives of so many people and I hope to raise enough money to help this important work.

I will update my progress along the way and I hope you will support me. Please sponsor at http://www.justgiving.com/iannobeerforayear

Mine's an orange juice!
